We've all seen the movie 300  which means we're all experts on the battle of Thermopolaye... Thermopolis... Thermopolae... or however it's spelled. We all know how 300 Spartans, with amazing muscles and abs, were able to fend off the thousands of men at the hands of the evil God-King Zerxes...  Xerzees... Zercksies... or however it's spelled. It is a story that has resonated through history as the epitome of the "underdog" theme.

In this episode, Kara takes a different perspective of the Battle of Thermopylae. Instead of focusing on the Spartans, she looks at the battle from the Persian perspective, which if you know the show, is a perfect Dumpster Fire. What was suppose to be a quick battle to knock out Greek support for unifying Greece against the Persians, quickly ballooned into a fiasco where it seems as though nothing could break the Spartan line. Kara also sheds a bit of light on the history of Persia and for the most part debunks, disproves, and even calls out blatant inaccuracies all at the expense of Hollywood story telling.

If you want a good map that kind of sheds some light on how the Greco-Persian War take place, check it out here.

We would love to see your stories where you tried to plan out every little detail, but when you executed that plan, it all went horribly wrong shortly after and turned into your own Dumpster Fire.

Be sure to put "Trashcan Fire" in the subject line followed by the title of the story and whether or not we can use your name.
