The time as come to share the rest of the events that befell Robert Falcon Scott and his crew between January and March of 1912. If you have not listened to Episode 31. Terra Nova Fire, you might want to go back take a listen to that episode before listening to this one.

In the first part, Ed sets the stage for the world wide craze of being the first one to set foot on the southern geographic south pole. The men who explored Antarctica were next level, and humanity hasn't quite seen this type of breed of man in quite some time. Yes these explorers all knew each other and they were all competing against each other, but they carried a ton of respect for each other.

In this second part, Ed breaks down the details surrounding the fateful day (s) where not only did Scott lose all his remaining men on his team to the elements, Scott himself succumbed to Antarctica's other worldly temperatures.

But Scott's expedition wasn't a failure even though he died, the fact his crew of scientists were able to extract so much information that the results would change the world, is a feat like none other.

Go ahead and wrap up in 5 different blankets, make a cup of noodles, turn on the heat in your house, and sit back and listen to a story that will make you glad you never became an explorer.

Hey before you go! Email us your "Trashcan Fires" to

We would love to see your stories where you tried to plan out every little detail, but when you executed that plan, it all went horribly wrong shortly after and turned into your own Dumpster Fire.

Be sure to put "Trashcan Fire" in the subject line followed by the title of the story and whether or not we can use your name.
